NEWARK, N.J.—20/20 magazine, sister publication to Vision Monday, recently published results of its Environmental Sustainability Survey 2026, which shows that 57 percent of independent eyecare professionals (ECPs) now offer sustainable frame products in their dispensaries. “The optical community continues to embrace environmental sustainability, as manufacturers, retailers and consumers have integrated sustainable practices into their businesses and daily lives,” said Christine Yeh, executive editor for 20/20. “No longer considered a niche category, eyewear crafted with sustainable materials continues to see positive growth.”
The survey asked respondents several questions related to sustainable practices including rating how important it is to employ environmentally friendly practices to both the ECPs and customers/patients, and the many ways ECPs can implement greener practices into everyday workflows.
Some highlights from 20/20’s Environmental Sustainability Survey are below.
This study was conducted in multiple waves by Jobson Optical Research in August 2023, September 2024, March 2025 and May 2026.
