DALLAS—Late last summer, Neurolens, a leading lens technology company known for providing solutions to digital eye strain, headaches, neck pain and vision health issues, announced an official rebrand to Newton. Named after Sir Isaac Newton, the company said at the time that the transformation reflected its commitment to challenging conventional standards in optometry and pioneering new frontiers to improve the lives of patients. Since then, the company has continued to live up to its commitment, having announced over the past 10 months a selection of key partnerships, an acquisition, and the launch of its Sequel progressive and single-vision lens as well as a subsequent line expansion with Sequel Computer and Sequel Meeting designs.
At the recent Optometry’s Meeting in June, where the company announced its extension to the Sequel portfolio, VMAIL caught up with Davis Corley, Neurolens co-founder and current CEO of Newton, for an exclusive interview. In a wide ranging discussion, Corley, who returned to lead the company in 2024 following a management restructure, discussed the company’s rebrand, its recent partnership and acquisition activity, as well as what’s coming up on the horizon.
“We thought long and hard about this large strategic move,” Corley told VMAIL about the rebrand initiative. “Ultimately, we built a fantastic market-leading brand as Neurolens in the therapeutic lens space. But as we looked out toward the future, we saw ourselves expanding into more of a mainstream market approach with our Sequel lens portfolio, which is available through VSP, and we knew that we’d have a larger umbrella of a brand.”
At the time of the rebrand, the Newton pointed to the move as a strategic evolution, positioning itself as a patient outcomes company focused on delivering life-changing results. With a story that began over 13 years ago with research into contoured prism technology, the name change from Neurolens to Newton reflected the spirit of innovation that is at its heart, the company said.
Soon after the company’s rebranding in September 2025, the company announced the launch of Sequel, and a few weeks later in October, shared the news that the lenses would be available through VSP, marking what Corley advised at the time was a major milestone for the company, extending the lens portfolio’s reach to millions of patients. A move that further engaged the lab community, with lenses available via Founders Optical Lab, Pacific Artisan Labs, Simplify Optics, Independent Vision and others, Corley noted last month that the partnership with VSP has been “fantastic,” and advised that the company looks to build a Neurolens therapeutic category and maintain that as a “private paid elective” for both patient and practice.
Soon after, in November 2025, the company announced the acquisition of Founders Optical lab and then a partnership agreement with ABB Labs in January to further extend access to the company’s lens offerings, including both Neurolens and Sequel.
“As we did this large strategic move, we expanded our vision for the future of the products that we are going to offer and the breadth of how we were going to serve the market,” Corley told VMAIL. “When you do something like that and have a full, new portfolio lens line that is going to be managed care vision covered, you need partnerships that help you scale, accelerate and grow. We met with the ABB team and saw a natural fit to serve eyecare professionals.”
Corley noted during the discussion that the company will continue to expand its N3 virtual reality headset, an immersive VR diagnostic device used by independent eyecare providers to measure eye misalignment, and discussed his vision of the future for Newton.
“We are always looking at the innovation pipeline,” he said. “What can we bring to help solve some of the larger challenges that optometrists are facing and that their patients are facing? Everything we do is going to be focused on helping those practices grow.”
