Iowa dentist fined for posting ‘unprofessional’ responses to online reviews – Becker’s Dental Review

An Iowa dentist was recently fined $1,000 for allegedly violating the privacy of patients who posted negative reviews online, the Iowa Capital Dispatch reported Aug. 25.

Trung Phan, DDS, of Northpark Dental in Urbandale, Iowa, allegedly posted “unprofessional” responses to negative online reviews. His responses also allegedly included patient information, according to charges from the Iowa Dental Board.

As part of a settlement agreement with the board, Dr. Phan must pay a $1,000 civil penalty and accept a warning from the board that engaging in such conduct could result in disciplinary action.

At the Becker’s 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
