FORT WORTH, Texas and NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The Eye Consortium (TEC), an alliance group for independent practices, has announced an expansion of its leadership team with the appointment of Jonathan Gonzales as vice president of strategic growth and member engagement, effective immediately. Gonzales joins TEC at a pivotal moment of expansion, bringing a track record of leadership in physician engagement and strategic business partnerships, according to the announcement. His career spans the U.S., EMEA, and APAC regions, where he has led high-impact, cross-functional initiatives focused on education, commercial growth and strategic alignment.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Jonathan Gonzales to the ever-growing TEC team,” said Robert Chu, OD, and Matthew Alpert, OD, co-founders of TEC. “Jonathan brings a unique skill set and an elite level of expertise in elevating member engagement and creating curated experiences. Having worked with him and seen his dedication in action over the years, we are certain his leadership will be a catalyst for TEC’s continued evolution and success.”

Gonzales’ professional background includes key roles at some of the industry’s most prestigious organizations, the announcement noted. At Hoya Vision Care and VSP Marchon Eyewear, he spearheaded global database strategies for pediatric virtual business units, driving data-informed decision-making across the board. Furthermore, his experience as a national brand specialist for Longchamp Eyewear highlights his ability to partner with industry leaders to deliver exclusive, experience-driven events that strengthen strategic partnerships and elevate practitioner engagement, TEC said.

Returning from Europe, Gonzales will oversee TEC’s next phase of expansion. His appointment reflects TEC’s continued focus on connecting with its members and supporting the independent eyecare community, the group said.

In March of this year, TEC announced significant milestones in its continued growth and commitment to strengthening independent practices across the U.S. In 2026, the Consortium experienced rapid membership growth and an expanded vendor portfolio featuring high-value additions, the group noted. Notably, TEC said it has secured Bausch + Lomb as an elite vendor partner, alongside new partners like Bolle, Spy, Serengeti, Optical Foundry, Lunettes, and Hoops HR, further enhancing offerings in eyewear, optical solutions, and human resources support tailored to independent practices.
