Norbert Lowe.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—Balance Ophthalmics, a medical device company advancing non-pharmacological, non-surgical treatment options for glaucoma, has announced the appointment of Norbert Lowe as chief commercial officer, effective immediately. In this new role, Lowe will lead the company’s commercial strategy and execution as it prepares to expand awareness and adoption of the FSYX (pronounced “physics”) Ocular Pressure Adjusting Pump (OPAP). Balance said this appointment comes at a pivotal time, following the FDA 510(k) clearance of the wireless-enabled next-generation FSYX system in May 2026 and ahead of anticipated broader commercialization.

“We are elated to welcome Norbert to the Balance Ophthalmics team,” said Seph Jensen, chief executive officer, Balance Ophthalmics. “Throughout his career, Norbert has consistently demonstrated the ability to translate innovative technologies into meaningful clinical and commercial success. As we prepare for the next phase of growth, his deep ophthalmic expertise, strategic leadership and track record of building high-performing organizations will be instrumental in helping us establish a new category in glaucoma care and bring FSYX to physicians and patients around the world who need additional treatment options.”

In making the announcement, the company said Lowe brings more than three decades of executive leadership experience across ophthalmic devices, pharmaceuticals and medical technology. He has led commercial organizations, built high-performing teams and supported the introduction of innovative technologies across multiple therapeutic areas. Most recently, Lowe served as senior vice president of commercial operations at Eyenovia. His prior sales and marketing leadership experience includes roles at Aerie Pharmaceuticals, acquired by Alcon; Carl Zeiss Meditec; AcuFocus, acquired by Bausch + Lomb Surgical; and other healthcare companies, the announcement said.

“Balance has a unique opportunity to address a critical and long-standing unmet need in glaucoma management by providing nocturnal IOP reduction during sleep, a period when intraocular pressure often rises and disease progression can continue,” said Lowe. “I am excited to join Balance at this pivotal stage and help build the commercial capabilities needed to bring this technology to eyecare professionals and patients who need it most. Our focus will be on executing a thoughtful, scalable commercial strategy that drives physician education, supports clinical adoption, and lays the foundation for long-term growth.”

The company said Lowe’s appointment reflects Balance Ophthalmics’ continued investment in the leadership, infrastructure and commercial capabilities needed to support the company’s next phase of growth. As the company advances toward a late 2026 commercial launch, it said it will “continue building awareness of the clinical importance of nocturnal IOP management and the role FSYX may play alongside existing glaucoma therapies.”

FSYX is a prescription-only, non-invasive therapy designed to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) during sleep in adults with open-angle glaucoma. The system combines pressure-modulating goggles with a compact pump that applies gentle negative pressure to the eyes while patients sleep.

Balance Ophthalmics advised it anticipates availability of the FSYX OPAP to eyecare practices in Q4 2026. Practices interested in learning more about the system may contact info@balanceophthalmics.com.
