Dave Brown.
NEWARK, N.J.—This month, Anne Cooper, editorial director of Vision Monday and 20/20 magazine, spoke with Dave Brown, the president and CEO of IDOC, about the group’s successful rebrand and launch of an exclusive line of contact lenses. An alliance of independent U.S. optometrists, IDOC has grown to more than 3,200 member practices across the country and is part of a global community of more than 7,000 owners. Brown joined the company in 2014.
In the interview, which is part of Vision Monday’s VM Conversations series, Brown discusses IDOC’s new brand identity, the launch of its comprehensive ophthalmic lens range Clerra and the acquisition of GSRx, which joins Three Rivers Optical in the IDOC lab network. He also delves into how the organization is evolving to strengthen support for its members with new investor involvement, including from Doug and Dame Mary Perkins, founders of Specsavers.
Brown told Cooper that the IDOC’s refreshed brand identity and messaging platform, anchored by the phrase “Independent Together,” reflects its long history and future direction. “We wanted to refresh the brand, but also bring it together so that all the pieces kind of feel the same, look the same so that people know they’re coming from IDOC and make it easier to find us,” he said. “Being independent is what we’re all about. We serve independent owners in private practice, but we also want those independent owners to thrive, and we feel a community and ecosystem is really important.”
