They may look eye-catching, but they can cause problems for your teeth and gums.
What is tooth jewellery?
Tooth jewellery is a small decoration attached to the surface of a tooth. It may be:
- A small gold or silver shape.
- A crystal or gem.
It is usually fixed to the tooth using dental glue and cannot be removed easily.
What are grillz?
Grillz are removable covers worn over the teeth. They are often:
- Made from gold, silver or other metals.
- Decorated with jewels.
- Fitted over one tooth or several teeth.
How can they harm your mouth?
Tooth jewellery and grillz can make it harder to keep your teeth clean and can damage your mouth.
