TS SOI gains ground in the European implant market

SEOUL, South Korea: Osstem Implant introduced its TS SOI implant system in Europe in November 2021. Developed with product performance, clinical reliability and long-term stability as central considerations, the system combines features intended to support strong primary stability and early osseointegration—established clinical priorities that may contribute to long-term treatment success.

Osstem has projected that sales of the TS SOI implant system across 16 European markets will grow at a compound annual rate of approximately 48% between 2023 and 2026. The data covers Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

At the core of the implant system is its super-hydrophilic SOI surface technology, which is designed to allow blood to spread rapidly across the implant surface. According to Osstem, this may facilitate early blood clot formation and osteoblast attachment during the healing phase. These surface characteristics are intended to promote early osseointegration.

TS SOI also incorporates a self-tapping design, a dual thread and optimised body geometry to support placement and primary stability. These design features are intended to increase engagement with the surrounding bone during implant placement and improve load distribution, contributing to mechanical stability. Depending on bone quality, surgical protocol and case selection, the system may be used in sites with compromised bone quality and in treatment scenarios involving immediate or early loading, subject to the applicable instructions for use.

In suitable cases, adequate primary stability and early osseointegration may support shorter treatment times and more predictable healing. However, treatment duration and outcomes also depend on patient-related, surgical and prosthetic factors.

Osstem continues to expand its implant portfolio in Europe, and TS SOI forms part of its range of systems intended to support primary stability and early healing. More information about the TS SOI implant system is available on the company’s website.
