NEWARK, N.J.—The national average for gross revenue at ECP locations increased last month, June 2026, when compared with the previous month, at a rate of 18 index points. That places gross revenue at a level 7 index points above where it was at this point in time (June) when compared with last year (2025), 23 points above the same period in 2024, 17 points above 2023, 27 points above 2022, 32 points above 2021, 43 points above 2020 and 59 points above 2019, according to Jobson’s most recent Practice Performance Tracker.
Following the increase in gross revenue, all other optical sales categories also increased last month when compared with the previous month, at rates of 14 index points for exams/refractions, 10 index points for frame units, 10 index points for lens pairs and 11 index points for contact lenses. When comparing last month’s optical sales with the same period last year, most of the other categories decreased, at rates of 0 index points for exams/refractions, -3 index points for frame units, -4 index points for lens pairs and -5 index points for contact lenses.
With all optical sales categories increasing last month, all categories reached a level above an average month in 2019—the index baseline assigned a value of 100 for this Optical Business Tracker. These ranged from a high of 153 index points for gross revenue to a low of 107 index points for contact lenses. The other categories reached 120 index points for exams/refractions, 111 index points for frame units and 117 index points for lens pairs.
Jobson Optical Research selected 1,500 optical locations that have been operating and reporting their sales to its partners, GPN and ABB Analyze, since 2019. The index has been rebased to an average month in 2019. Going forward, this new index base will be used as an arbitrary benchmark and assigned a value of 100.
